Do I Need Bag Gloves For Bag Work?

Published on July 28th, 2010no comments

Heavy bag gloves can help protect your hands from the vigors of training. I had scraped up knuckles the first time I worked out on the heavy bag.

Gloves for the bag are meant for training. They are for use on the bag not your opponent. They are not very padded and protect you while working out on a bag but not your opponents face!

Hand wraps can be used with bag gloves but you will want to size your gloves accordingly. Gloves that are heavy will help to get you used to the rigors of boxing.

Hand wraps can add stability for your wrist however. Once you start ground fighting you’ll have less wrist support than in boxing gloves, so you do need to train your wrists.

Traditional Boxing Gloves

Should I use boxing gloves for the heavy bag workout or do I need bag gloves? It is up to you. There are some pluses and minuses to both.

Although it is alright to use 16 ounce gloves on the bag, it will wear and tear your gloves. That is a plus for using bag gloves.

When you use the heavy bag gloves you end up degrading them a little bit. So, you end up lessening the life of the gloves when you use them often on the heavy bag.

Construction

The bag gloves are leather or vinyl. They have enough padding to protect your knuckles. Again there is not enough to use them as a sparring glove.

The heavy bag is designed to optimize power and endurance so that is why it has little give. Therefore, you will need to be able to hit the bag with force and not worry about getting injured.

Since the heavy bag is hard and heavy, you obviously need to hit it hard as well. It will not give so in order to punch it hard without getting hurt, you need protection.

Other Workouts

Bag gloves are useful for other workouts too such as hitting the double end bag or focus mitts. They cannot be used for sparring, however because they are too light to be safe.

As for MMA gloves, it is best not to use them on a heavy bag since they are not intended at all for this type of training. You will end up wearing out the gloves prematurely and the finger free nature of the gloves presents a serious risk for an injury on a heavy bag. As such, don’t use your MMA gloves for this purpose.

What To Purchase

When purchasing heavy get the ones with the most adequate protection. Avoid the ultra-thin ones as they just do not offer enough support.

Look for durable heavy gloves. Stay away from the thin gloves. Leather is the best option but vinyl will work. You’ll just need to replace them sooner.

I recommend the UFC heavy bag gloves, the Century heavy bag gloves and Bad Boy heavy bag gloves. I have had experience with all of these, and you could choose any of these with confidence.

Before you buy online, make sure you check Sensei Kim’s reviews , and great deals on bag gloves.

Where To Buy Mens Leather Driving Gloves

Published on July 27th, 2010no comments

Mens leather driving gloves were originally worn in the earlier days of the automobile due to the steering wheels being produced of materials that would either freeze or scorch the drivers hands, for example steel or wood. So in hot or cold temperatures mens leather driving gloves were used for comfort more than style.

Gloves back then were worn in a fashion sense anyway so it only made sense that mens leather driving gloves would result from this. Besides the fashion angle, wearing gloves was simply safer because of the greater grip on the steering wheels. Even though mens leather driving gloves may well not be as popular in the current era they are still favored by lots of males for several reasons.

For mens leather driving gloves obviously the best material to use is, well, leather! Mens leather driving gloves are durable, feel great about the hands, and are classic in style. Some people enjoy the actual shopping for mens leather driving gloves because there are literally many options and brands to choose from. As a matter of practicality look for any pair that has grooves or other details on the palms and fingers for any far better grip on the steering wheel.

Leather-based jackets are often worn to complete an appearance that could dress up or dress down an outfit. The leather jacket can go with everything – from jeans to cashmere – and might be worn in all seasons. As with mens leather driving gloves, leather jackets can last a lifetime if treated properly.

Mens leather driving gloves are a good idea for a gift, and can vary in price through the cheap towards the exorbitantly high-priced. What other great gift could you buy for around $25 other than mens leather driving gloves? So now that you are armed with a few more details about mens leather driving gloves you can go shop to your hearts content.

In keeping with modern times, driving gloves are now offered in a wide range of fabrics. Some also have heating elements for people who suffer from significant arthritis. This may make driving more comfortable for people whose hands are already achy, especially if a drive is going to be long. Of course, they can also just be a fashion statement, which seem to get special use by those who drive very fashionable or sporty cars. The range of choices suggest you can buy driving gloves that fit a specific need, or just because you want them.

Now we may keep all kinds of things in the glove box, or perhaps just our mens leather driving gloves. Yet the name remains because usage became so common, and also perhaps in homage to an era when such gloves made a great deal of practical sense.
